What was the brief?
What makes the University of West London different from all other Universities? UWL is known as the ‘Career University’, providing students with real world skills, industry tutors and links to their chosen career path.
UWL needed professional video content that would reflect their variety of courses as well as focus on their practicality and the future career possibilities of their students. UWL needed short, snappy video content for 40 courses – including social media platform edits – that would grab the attention of the their audiences. 80 films in total. Challenge accepted! This is something we are well versed in delivering, having previously produced high volume projects for Macmillan Education, MindEd and UCL’s Institute of Education.
How did we approach the brief?
What’s exciting about UWL is because of the practicalities of their courses, we had access to so many facilities and environments that would allow us to not only talk about the courses, but also express visually exactly how impressive they are.
Because of the volume of films required, we knew we had to approach the videos with a strong structure, allowing us to make content quickly and efficiently while still being effective.
We decided upon a 3-part structure that included, an intro, an interview with students and tutors, and finally a hero shot that concentrated on real students preparing to head out into the real world.
This structure allowed us to create video content that was both auditory and visually stimulating as well as being inspiring.
To ensure we paid special attention to all 40 videos, we staggered our delivery so that the client had time to review all of the content we had created. We also delivered social edits and subtitled versions.
The content was really well received by UWL and their audience, and we’ve since been commissioned to make 10 more films for their prospective undergraduate audience.
