Spectrecom has long played a major role in the video marketing efforts of the London Youth Games, the annual event which sees teams from every borough in the capital coming together to compete at a whole host of sports.

More than 100,000 schoolchildren took part in the 2012 Games, and many past participants have gone on to fame and fortune; Mo Farah, Rio Ferdinand, Christine Ohuruogu, David Weir, Luol Deng and Bradley Wiggins, to name just a few.

However just as important as those elite minority are the far greater numbers of children in whom the London Youth Games inspires a sustained sporting passion.

Having previously delivered everything from launch films to Hall of Fame recordings to challenges between Olympians and Paralympians reffed by John Anderson of “Gladiators, READY!!” fame, Spectrecom has just produced two new videos for London Youth Games which tap into that all-important theme of inspiration.

The first of those videos, Sporting Legacy in Action, is a short documentary focusing on the Hounslow Hawks, a girls’ basketball team formed following the 2006 Games. Since then, hundreds of girls from the borough have played for the team, including some who have gone on to represent England at international level.

The other new video is entitled Volunteer Legacy in Action and offers a profile of 23-year-old Perre Daniel, whose volunteering for the London Youth Games inspired her to take up events as a fulltime career. Three years on and she is enjoying great success, with her work seeing her divide her time between here and the US, for major clients such as Nike and Gucci.

The two videos have only just been launched online, but have already been screened at a special London Youth Games event. Happily, the Games’ Communications Manager Chris Broadbent reported that they “went down a storm!”.

We’ve also had very positive feedback from Perre herself: “Just wanted to say thank you. The short film is amazing. Great job.”

Here at Spectrecom, we’ve lent our video production expertise to projects for many different charity clients, including Children in Need, The Children’s Trust and Heart n Soul. To find out more about our 15% charity discount and to see more of our work, take a look at our charities page.
