With the Google Glass doing the rounds at SXSW and on the verge of entering our lives as well as our privacy you would think that the Internet behemoth would have enough to do without hacking another element of our wardrobes. You would be wrong however though as Google have teamed up with Adidas here to bring us “The Talking Shoe”.
Great for a pep talk as we see in the basketball-ing viral below but its also kind of like your most annoying friend on social media, posting constantly throughout the day about the most mundane aspects of its life. Though I suppose if you will follow a shoe on Google+ you know what you’re in for.
These high-tops come fitted out with a computer, a speaker, an accelerometer, a gyroscope and a pressure sensor. The shoe knows where you are, what you’re doing and how fast you’re doing it. Unfortunately it will share these facts with you along the way as well as many other opinions it might have regarding sitting on park benches or how much you suck at dunking.
According to Aman Govil, lead of the advertising arts team, “The talking shoe is an experiment in how you can use connected objects to tell stories on the Web today.” But how long until it gets jealous of the other shoes in your closet?
