Earlier this month, Spectrecom Films welcomed 45 budding filmmakers from Brunel University London to our studios to spend two hours learning what it’s like to work for a London production company. The undergraduate Film and TV students were split into four groups and were each given a tour of our three full-service studios. This was followed by a live studio shoot taster session, a talk with our Head of Post-Production Luigi Rizzo and one of our directors, Matt O’Brien and finally, a meeting with company MD, Andrew Greener.
Our head of post-production Luigi gave the group an insight into the role of an editor in our Live Edit Suite.
Arthur Briggs, one of our producers, talked to the group about his experience in the sector and the role of a producer on set during a live shoot
“The students got a huge amount out of their time at the studios and there was real buzz amongst the cohort about the visit.” Dr Caroline Ruddell, Lecturer in Film and TV Studies.
Having a perfect sample of first year undergraduate students on the premises we took the opportunity to ask them a few questions about their university decision-making process and the types of university marketing that most appealed to them.
They told us that location was definitely the most important factor when deciding which university to attend, with course content, employability, atmosphere and accommodation also prevalent.
Another interesting nugget that the Brunel students shared with us was that most of them had watched and remembered cinema ads about Universities when making their decision about where to study.
This is an invaluable insight into the factors that influence prospective university students and we look forward to creating more university cinema adverts in future.
Spectrecom takes its social responsibility very seriously and is always keen to go above and beyond for its clients so we were delighted to welcome the students and offer them an insight into the industry.
