Georgina in the Media! *UPDATED*

Former Spectrecom trainee, Georgina Studd, is currently getting masses of media attention, after the success of her short film 'Georgina Goes Out'; a fantastic 5 minute film she created with the help of Spectrecom. She has featured in a Guardian Article, the Bexley Chronicle, Mercury Paper, Children and Young People Now, BBC Slink, BBC Ouch, The Daily Telegraph, First News, Media Box and Need to Know.
The Daily Telegraph has carried an article about Georgina Studd and her film 'Georgina Goes Out'. Spectrecom produced the film for Georgina, and is mentioned in the article. To read more about the film, please view our training pages.

Well done Georgina!

Former Trainee wins Channel 4 competition
Georgina Studd attended Spectrecom’s last 12 week Practical Filmmaking Workshop course. She subsequently submitted a film idea to Media Box in the hope of winning one of 10 short film grants available. Of the 10 films, Channel 4 would screen only the best film in it’s 3 Minute Wonder strand, however, all of the films would also appear on Channel 4’s online platform, Four Docs.
Her application was successful and Georgina, who suffers from cerebral palsy, asked Spectrecom to help her to make the film. Georgina (16) has difficulties getting out and about during the school summer holidays because of her confinement to a wheelchair, and the film shows her trying to arrange an outing to a bowling alley with a friend. Whilst the film was written and directed by Georgina, our very own Christiaan Harden (camera) and Steve Milton (camera and editing) helped her to bring her vision to the screen.
The 5 minute film was very well received and of the 10 films submitted to Media Box, Georgina’s film is the one that has been selected to be aired on Channel 4! We will publish details of the transmission time as soon as it is confirmed.

Music Video Course - 2007
We have just completed a film training course which has given a Lewisham based group the opportunity to have a video made for one of their tracks. The band, Merlins, had their track 'No Rehearsal' turned into a music video, shot in our studio using a variety of methods and setups by students from the course, under Spectrecom's tuition. The video can be viewed here.

Funded by Lewisham Council Community Sector Unit.

Practical Film Production Course - 2007
The course has now finished. The students created a 9 minute film exploring the effect of Development on Creekside, which can be viewed here. Please be aware that due to the length of this video, it may take a short while to load.

Fast Forward Practical Film Production Course - 2007

More Success for Spectrecom Training Student's Film 'Knife Lewisham'
The students of Spectrecom Training's first Practical Film Production course have won internet success wth their production 'Knife Lewisham', which will be broadcast on anew ITV local broadband site.
Their 8 minute film illustrating the problem of knife
attacks in the Lewisham area was premiered in the London East End Filmmakers (LEEF) cluster showcase through an East End Film Festival Programme.
This is a great achievement for all those who took part in the course, which was funded by the Capital Community Fund. The trainees, who had never made a film before, were given technical and theoretical training throughout the 10 week course. To view Knife Lewisham , please follow this link.
Since then the film was also shown at Lewisham's People's Day where Casper Jelly and Sarah Aynesworth offered filmmaking advice during a Q & A at the Stagestruck mobile cinema.
This course was funded by the Capital Community Fund.

Heads for Business enjoy Studio Day
Deptford organisation Heads for Business enlivened the Spectrecom Studio for a day’s shoot as part of their Youth Enterprise Programme. The scheme gives young people the chance to foster entrepreneurial attitudes while developing real business ideas.
The 17 students were able to gain practical experience of the workings of a studio and spent the day filming individual pieces which included rap and interview to promote their new business ideas.
