Title: Make your Mark (Fit Cities)
Delivery: Conference / Event film
Talent: Pre-production, creative, production, post-production
What was the brief?
Taking place in mid-March 2013, Fit Cities – Fit World was a London-staged conference which brought together designers, planners, medical professionals and other influential figures, in order to discuss solutions for tackling the growing danger of obesity to the public health.
A powerful, inspirational film was required to open the conference, to get the attendees excited about Fit Cities by outlining the challenges and also some of the successful initiatives already launched in London.
How did we approach the brief?
The film kicks off with a high-impact, purposefully attention-grabbing intro, specifically intended to make conference attendees sit up and take notice. Making use of point-of-view filming, burst photography and visceral editing, these stylised sequences connect the various case studies featuring designers, policy makers and local residents.
Taken as a whole, the film acts as a call to arms for delegates, inviting them to make their mark and help tackle the health issues being thrown up by urbanised environments.
The Centre for Active Design in New York has called the film “really compelling”, and sent them to the Brazilian team who are organising next year’s Fit Cities conference.
Client feedback was very strong too, with the GLA’s Gus Wilson having this to say about the project: “All in all, a very professional job that was well managed and delivered on time and in budget. I’m delighted with the final films and they really enhanced the Fit Cities conference. I’ve enjoyed working with everyone at Spectrecom and would happily recommend you to colleagues.”
The film has since gone on to win an IVCA Clarion Gold Award for Best Local Government Film.
