Matt’s career began as an AV technician working on events in the UK and Europe. His passion for music eventually prevailed when he began touring as a video engineer, working for many acts ranging from The Smashing Pumpkins and Metallica through to The Who. From this experience he learned about life on the road working on productions in venues ranging from small theatres to stadiums.

His directing career began in 1997 with The Prodigy and their “Fat of The Land” tour, commissioned by the Band to shoot an MTV “Live From The 10 Spot” at Brixton Academy. This made the top 3 Billboard views in the US when aired.

Among the first Artists Matt directed was Eminem, “Slim Shady Live” for US pay-per-view.

Muse were also an early acquaintance, their relationship starting with the highly acclaimed “Hullabaloo”. Matt embraced the spirit of Muse, directing a more dynamic and intense DVD than was the norm at that time. Since then he has directed “HAARP” at Wembley Stadium and latterly “Live in Rome’s Olympic Stadium” in 4K for the Band, the first live 4K film with a global theatrical release.

Over the years Matt has honed his skills. His experience both on the road working with screens, and directing live DVD’s and television is really understanding the world of the stage show, both in terms of any documentary element and of course the performance, the importance of the detail and how to capture the connection between Artist and audience.

Matt also co-directed the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympics, which featured Coldplay.

In recent years Matt has diversified, directing many Stand Up DVDs for Comedians who include Tim Minchin, Stephen Merchant, Ed Byrne, Sean Hughes, Angelos Epithimou and Stewart Francis.

Further to this work in the entertainment field he is focusing on the Commercial World, particularly that of Live Events for Brands. The most noteworthy of these undertakings being The Range Rover Sport Launch featuring Daniel Craig, The Jaguar XE and F-Type Launches and the Nokia Lumia Live 800 and 900 Experiential Events.
