Spectrecom’s inhouse film and web video production team expanded this week with the introduction of director, camera-operator and editor, Peter Ford.
Peter’s life as a shooter started at around the age of ten, when his BBC-employed father brought him into the news studios to help man a pedestal camera during some routine power tests.
After operating on tip toes, and peering into viewfinder, Peter soon realised that this was the direction his future was going to go.
To achieve a broader range of skills Peter chose not to pursue a media related degree, and instead studied English at university - skills which now find their way into script editing, or writing articles for broadcast magazines.
After completing his degree, Peter went on to become a trainee cameraman, where he worked and trained as hard as possible. After working as a junior camera op, he soon moved into freelance roles, working on a variety of productions - from documentaries, films, music videos, commercials and news. Peter is a trained steadicam-op, lighting cameraman / director; and also works on the post-production side as an editor and motion graphic designer. A very welcome very addition to Spectrecom quickly expanding team.
To Peter, “there isn’t an ‘outside of work’”, which explains why he’s an avid film fan and likes to shoot his own films and documentaries in his spare time.
Doing steadicam work requires Peter to keep up his strength up, so he also does a lot of mountain biking and hope to complete the London to Brighton bike ride next year.

Take a look at some of Peter’s previous work here. It’s a 'behind the scenes' documentary showing what went on at a Pistonheads photography session - where keen PHers learn about car photography at LAT's purpose built studio. Both amateurs and pro photographers learn from the experts on how to light and shoot a dramatic matte black Mercedes, as well as getting a chance to get their own cars in the studio.
