Spectrecom begins work with Blast! Films to make Scambaiters, a documentary commissioned by Channel 4 for the First Cut strand. Andrew Greener will direct and Christiaan Harden, who originated the idea, will be Assistant Producer.
7th April
Matt Carrozo joins Spectrecom in the role of Business Development Manager and is tasked with developing the company's corporate web video sales strategy. Matt brings with him a wealth of experience in the execution and marketing of online video.
4th April
Spectrecom won the IVCA Gold Award at a ceremony at Grosvenor House Hotel this evening for its films for Durham University.

4 March
Georgina Studd’s film, Georgina Goes Out today reached new heights, winning the award for Best Mediabox Film at the First Light Movie Awards held at the Leicester Square Odeon. Along with some of the Spectrecom team who helped to make the film, Georgina met Kevin Spacey, Davina McCall and Bond producer Barbara Broccoli OBE who said, “This was an emotional, no holds barred documentary”.Click here to see a picture.

Spectrecom has entered the IVCA awards in a number of categories and will be taking a table at the awards ceremony in April.

A busy month for the team, where the studio was almost fully booked out and new commissions were won with Abstracts, Apetito, Soil Association, Frontrider and Pixemondo.
26 November
The Daily Telegraph has today carried an article about Georgina Studd and her film 'Georgina Goes Out'. Spectrecom produced the film for Georgina, and is mentioned in the article. To read more about the film, please view our training pages.

Spectrecom wins "National Green Champion" at the Green Apple Award ceremony at the House of Commons.
30 October
Jaleesa Tonge and Casper Jelly from Spectrecom Training's first Practical Film Production course have been invited on to the "In-Flow-Mation with Sly & Legs" radio show to discuss their film "Knife Lewisham". 19 October
Recent Spectrecom trainee Georgina Studd asked Spectrecom to work with her to make a short film for Media Box / Channel 4. The 5 minute film will now be aired as part of Channel 4’s 3 Minute Wonder strand and is the "Film of the week" on the Channel 4 Four Docs website.

Spectrecom was awarded a Highly Commended Plaque at the IVCA Clarion Awards ceremony in recognition for its short Corporate Social Responsibility films.

Spectrecom are now members of the London Chamber of Commerce, premier business support and networking organisation.
13 August
Spectrecom is selected as a winner in this year’s Green Apple Environment Awards. The awards ceremony takes place at the House of Commons on 9 November.
8 August
Arash Sahami is working at Spectrecom on a 3 month secondment to help develop new television documentary proposals. Arash has recently worked as Associate Producer for the BBC and on Channel 4 documentaries (Dispatches, Cutting Edge).
3 August
Georgina Studd, has won a development fee to make a documentary that will compete for screening in Channel 4’s Three Minute Wonder strand, and Spectrecom will be producing. Georgina is a graduate of Spectrecom Training’s most recent Practical Filmmaking Workshop.
13 July
Ben Franklin leaves the studio for the last time today as a single man! He’s off to Jamaica for 3 weeks to marry his childhood sweetheart, Emma.
10 July
Heart ‘n Soul’s short drama, Celebrity Shotgun, was premiered at Spectrecom’s studio in front of an audience of over 50 people, and was hailed a great success. Further projects for Heart ‘n Soul should follow.
6 July
Spectrecom recently placed a series of new videos on the CSR page. Today they were nominated for a Clarion Award by the IVCA. The results will be announced at BFI Southbank in September.

Spectrecom is invited to become Executive Producers of the Black History Month Short Film Challenge, which gives two short films the opportunity of a production grant.

Following on from last year’s studio screenings, Spectrecom announces a new film competition for South East London filmmakers, culminating in screenings and an award-giving ceremony to coincide with the Deptford Design Festival in September 2007. Please contact Christiaan for more information.

Commissioned to produce short film Celebrity Shotgun for Deptford’s Heart 'n Soul. The drama was written during creative sessions taken by Mat Fraser, who will direct the film. The shoot will take place in and around Deptford locations at the beginning of May 2007.

After completing our second year of business, Spectrecom has made £265k turnover, with expected profits of £55k.

Competition winners enjoyed a fun day in the studio, courtesy of Warner Bros., where they each had the opportunity to dance alongside Mumbles from the recent animation Happy Feet, via the magic of special effects!

With the studio busier than ever before (including bookings for ITV4 series WAG Boutique, and BBC4 series Screenwipe), and much of our educational work now in post-production, Spectrecom has taken on a project to produce 80 web-videos for the largest car parts network in the UK, 247 Spares.

11 December
Ben Franklin is setting up a new screenwriter's group which will meet at the Spectrecom Films Studio for the first time on January 16th. For further details, contact ben@spectrecom.co.uk.
30 November
Shooting wraps on the project for Durham University after a fragmented 17 days filming which started in August. In November Spectrecom was shooting for 25 days of the month and completed editing on 2 projects.
28 November
The next Practical Film Training Course begins, with a brand new group of students gaining the chance to make their own short film at Spectrecom.
24 November
Principal photography begins for King's College London at the Strand campus, marking the start of work on 4 new films for the university. Shooting is scheduled for completion by the end of January 2007.
20 November
Spectrecom welcomes a new Studio Manager, Jonny Franklin, as Lee Ticknell-Smith departs to pursue a different career. Jonny brings his graphics and special effects experience with him, and arrives just in time for the Xmas party!
12 November
We have rebranded our website for our professional online video service, giving the site a total makeover. It can now be found at Spectrecom-online.co.uk. In the following months we will be launching yet more sites, for our other brand new filming and studio services, so please check back soon to find out more!

Spectrecom dispatches a film crew to join SAGA's MV Spirit of Adventure,
documenting a 2 week cruise in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. Hard work for

Spectrecom Films holds the first studio Open Day and Films Screening from 12-9pm. The event was well attended and managed to raise

Due to the many additional facilities we now offer, Spectrecom will be inceasing the studio hire rate to £475 per day from 14th September.
25 August
Over the holiday period we've experienced our busiest month ever, with new commissions for SAGA, King's College London, the CheQmate Gameshow and Nintendo.. The studio was also booked for 21 days, making our studio manager a very happy man!

Spectrecom Training completes the first Practical Film Production Course. The students produced a nine minute documentary film, 'Knife Lewisham'. The students also gained valuable experience working on professional studio and location shoots.
18 April
The studio is hired for a TV drama pilot by the Serial Company. Spectrecom fills the studio with it's most ambitious set build to date, two sets, side by side (a U.S. style open-plan apartment and a sitting room).

Spectrecom delivers 5 promotional DVD’s for the University of Greenwich, having been called in to complete a project undertaken by another production company.

Spectrecom celebrates completion of the first year in business at Faircharm Studios. Studio hiring continues to increase month on month since the first hire in July last year. April 2006 is already booked for 15 days!
