Whilst Google is updating their algorithms to help remove search results from showing examples of child pornography, YouTube is also being swept clean of an exploitative online videos.
In a massive crackdown over 100,000 search and video results have been culled from the site in accordance with the British Government’s lobby to rid the Internet of the material.
Eric Schmidt of Google stated that: “We’re already testing it at Google, and in the new year we hope to make it available to other Internet companies and child safety organizations.”
This is a good start and one that is perhaps long overdue for the major Internet players, of course the rest of the Internet is a lot harder/impossible to police but with the service providers themselves starting to crack down on pirating and peer to peer sites, the net is closing in on the owners and profiteers of illegal materials.
