With Yahoo Video on the verge of becoming a reality it would appear that YouTube are willing to do what it takes to hang on to their web video talent.
Some of the new changes coming to YouTube will include offering advertisers access to guaranteed views. This has the double effect of providing advertisers with massive audiences as well as increasing the revenue of the top 5% YouTube creators.
Google will now act more like a TV channel in this respect offering advertisers slots on its most attractive and most viewed content – this is something that they have never done before.
As the creators look elsewhere for revenue with corporate tie-ins and other sponsorship to offset YouTube’s current slow revenue streams could a play from Yahoo video lure some of the best video makers out there to a pastures greener.
