Spectrecom is lucky enough to have been the video production company chosen to work with West Kent housing association on a number of occasions now, creating some of our favourite of our own films in the process.
Those films have covered a range of topics, including community development, supporting vulnerable tenants and customer service.
They’ve previously secured a number of video awards, and we’ve just learned they’re up for another accolade – West Kent has been nominated in the ‘Use of Video for Business’ category at the inaugural Kent Digital Awards.
Massive congratulations to West Kent for that recognition. The awards themselves take place on 18 June, and you can take a look at the full list of nominations here.
The first film Spectrecom created for West Kent highlighted its Lifeways scheme, designed to help the vulnerable and disadvantaged find housing, often in the face of social prejudice.
A serious subject and one we addressed by creating a story-led film which is more documentary than it is corporate promo – you can watch it at the top of this page.
The Lifeways film was a significant success for West Kent, helping to double the uptake of landlords joining the scheme.
It also shone at the 2013 IVCA Awards, winning Silver in the ‘Best Documentary’ category and being Highly Commended for ‘Best Direction’.
Following Lifeways, our next project for West Kent was intended to demonstrate to its staff the importance of delivering high quality customer service.
Again we took a documentary-style approach, with engaging case studies used to convey the important messages to the audience.
The film was another success; following its launch, complaints to West Kent reduced by 11% and compliments rose by 6%. A follow-up survey showed 84% of customer service staff felt positive about their roles, up 26%.
Then came our biggest project for West Kent yet – a 17-minute documentary film covering a decade in the history of its community development charity, West Kent Extra. Taking in multiple stories and a large cast of contributors covering every strand and strata of West Kent Extra – from MD to apprentice – the film was screened at a special event celebrating the charity’s 10-year anniversary.
