Online video provides the core of Spectrecom Films’ business. But the last year has seen us working on more and more broadcast projects, the newest of which is a 30-second TV ad for RSPCA Assured.
To give a bit of background to the project, RSPCA Assured is the ethical food label of the UK’s best-known animal welfare charity, the RSPCA.
Spectrecom has produced several online video projects for the label previously (when it was known as Freedom Food), including a documentary series and animation. But this was a first foray into TV for our partnership.
The brief we received was to create a new 30-second TV commercial promoting the new RSPCA Assured label. By helping to raise public awareness, the aim is to improve the lives of almost 100 million farm animals.
The response from Spectrecom was to bring the message behind the label to life as colourfully and as creatively as possible. This was done with a combination of live-action filming and animation, and also through a poetic narration, delivered by no lesser luminary than Sir John Hurt.
Well done to all the team involved, including Peter Ford (director), Rob Jowers (producer) Dani Wilmot (scriptwriter), Kieran Hodges (camera), Blake Dixon (editor), Ionut Apetroae (lighting) and animators Ruaraidh Gillies and Alan Maceachern.
The charity advert launches today on Channel 4, E4, More4, Film4 and Dave, so look out it for it lighting up your goggle box. And you can check out the behind-the-scenes fun on the shoot below.
