As revealed a few weeks ago, Spectrecom Films scored two nominations at this year’s IVCA Awards. And on Friday night, we descended on Grosvenor House on Park Lane to find out if those nominations would be converted into trophies.

For those not in the know, the IVCA is the trade body for the visual communications industry – meaning its annual awards are amongst the most prestigious a video production company can win.

Having won a Silver IVCA and a Highly Commended last year, both for our West Kent Lifeways film, we were up for gongs in two categories this year.

‘Do You Care?’, the campaign film we produced for Macmillan Cancer Support, was up for the Laurus Award, for the most outstanding production with a budget of less than £15,000, and the 48-hour live streaming event we produced for Skittle and Mesh Marketing was nominated for Best Brand Event.

It was the result of the latter category which was revealed first, with our project taking Silver. Directors Mark Jackson and Peter Ford took to the stage to collect the gong.

Then it was the Laurus Award, and we were delighted to claim Gold in that category. Creative director Ben Kent, director Steve Milton and writer Paul Martin went up to receive the award, along with our guests Antony Rathbone and Dan Rowson from Macmillan.
