Yesterday was a big day for universities up down the country, including many clients of Spectrecom Films. That’s because yesterday saw the release of the Research Excellence Framework 2014 results, ranking universities according to the quality and impact of their research.

Middlesex is a university eager to shout about its burgeoning research output – and the quality of that output was recognised by the REF: Middlesex was ranked as the best modern university in London for research power, while 58% of its research was classed as world-leading and internationally excellent.

As a long-term video production partner of Middlesex, we’ve known about its research excellence for quite a while. Most notably, we filmed with nine of the university’s top academics last year to create a series of online video case studies.

To coincide with the REF 2014, Middlesex asked us to compile those Spectrecom-produced case studies, along with several others, into a showreel which communicated the overall excellence and impact of the university’s research.

The reel certainly offers a snapshot of an eclectic array of projects, touching on such diverse areas as medicine, environmental biology, data, policing, user experiences, art, performance and more.
