According to a recent TED study people actually act differently on web video sites like YouTube when compared with other sites.
This does go some way to explain the bizarre, obnoxious or just downright hateful comments that regularly litter the site.
According to the study, large percentages of comments are not actually related to the video content itself – this can sometimes be up to half of the comments on a given video.
Its an interesting study but one that makes unfortunate reading for any wannabee YouTube creators. If you want the big views and attention – you’re going to have to put up with the trolls.
