Formerly known as the IVCA Awards, the EVCOM Screen Awards are our industry’s very own answer to the Baftas, Oscars and Grammys, all rolled into one night of sparkle, showbiz and stupendously good films.
In the last two years, Spectrecom has walked away from the glitzy Park Lane ceremony carrying awards for our work with Skittles, Macmillan and West Kent housing association.
We’ll be hoping to repeat that success this year, in the two categories we’ve just learned our work has been nominated in.
In the ‘Recruitment and Induction’ category, our video for the University of East London starring Team GB sprinter Adam Gemili has been shortlisted.
It’s a video which reveals Adam’s appreciation of the support he’s received from UEL, and also gives the viewer a privileged glimpse inside the mind of an elite athlete.
Moody and magnificent, the video is a testament to Adam’s star quality and commitment to the project, and also the excellence of its director, Matt Farman, and crew, Kieran Hodges, James Adair and Arthur Briggs.
In the ‘Health & Safety Campaign’ category, we’ve been nominated for our video for the Dogs Trust, produced in partnership with PR agency See.Saw.
Entitled ‘Hot Cars Kill Dogs’, it’s a powerful, surprisingly emotive piece highlighting the Trust’s campaign to warn dog-owners of the risks of leaving their pets locked in the car.
That campaign was a big success, with the video playing a major part. It’s been watched more than 60,000 times on YouTube, and it attracted coverage from more than 100 media outlets including The Daily Telegraph and Daily Star.
This is the second major award it’s been nominated for in the space of month, following its shortlisting in the ‘Best Use of Video’ category at the PR Moments Awards.
Hearty pats on the back are therefore well-merited by the team involved: so that’s director Peter Ford, as well as Laura Merrett, Alex Kerr, James Adair, Laurentiu Maria and Eduardo Vento.
Spectrecom Films crafts award-winning content for charities, agencies and universities alike.
