We aren’t the only award winners around at the moment with online video series House Of Cards picking up a major Emmy Award last night for Best Director. This makes for big news in the online video production world as the David Fincher directed and Kevin Spacey starring show was created by Netflix. Beating off competition from Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire and Downton Abbey HoC’s win represents a major milestone in the history of television and film awards ceremonies.
Netflix are famously hesitant to show off their figures but according to Neilsen traffic – 2 out of 5 Americans use the service, a service which is being spread worldwide.
With YouTube and Netflix carrying a lot more weight than they used to, we could see some more online video productions making waves in the future of viewing schedules as well as awards schedules.
