Unauthorized video marketing can be a great way to get noticed. Adding a dose of dark humour is a sure-fire way to get the view count up.
A group of film students from Ludwigsburg in Germany created this surreal and brilliant fake TV spot, which sees an adolescent Adolf come afoul when faced with the Collision-Prevent-Assist-System in the new Mercedes models.
Mercedes called the ad ‘inappropriate’ but have not forced the filmmakers to remove it, instead letting it reach nearly 2 million views so far on YouTube.
The high quality of the video production coupled with the blatantly controversial content makes for a highly sharable piece of content. If it wasn’t for the disclaimer notices you could be fooled into thinking it was in fact a real commercial for the German car brand.
