With four gold medals secured at London 2012, David Weir was one of the home-grown heroes of last summer’s Paralympic Games. He’s the star of a brand new video production filmed by ourselves.
That quartet of golds added to two already won in 2008, and David’s stellar athletics career has also seen him achieve six victories in the London Marathon – making him the perfect performance guru to speak to some of the aces-in-waiting of the England Under-20 rugby team.
That meeting between David and fly-half Henry Slade, back-row Jack Clifford and front-row Luke Cowan-Dickie took place during a recent media event at the BMW Performance Academy near Reading, and a Spectrecom film crew was on-hand to capture the proceedings.
The resulting video is now online, on both the BMW and RFU channels, and it not only features David’s advice to the young rugby stars on how to channel their ability into consistently winning performances, it also shows Henry, Jack and Luke taking the reflex-testing Batak Challenge.
The crack crew of Spectre-commandos behind the video were Matt Farman (director-camera operator), Matt O’Brien (camera operator) and Kieran Hodges (sound & lighting), and for those who are interested in such things, it was shot on an EX3 and FS700. And the project was put together in conjunction with our friends at Synergy.
