Precisely seven days ago, we highlighted Nike’s opening salvo in the war of the World Cup videos. Today, we’re taking a look at a shiny new nugget of video marketing goodness from World Cup sponsor Visa.

Set in a Brazilian barbershop, the video finds the owner of said shop confronted by an enemy of the nation – in the silver-maned shape of Paolo Rossi, the erstwhile Italy striker whose hat-trick knocked Brazil out of the ’82 World Cup.

Having identified Rossi by his Visa card, the barber – whose beard and barnet recall Socrates, the late, great captain of that brilliant Brazil team of 31 years ago – is forced to choose between fury or forgiveness. Watch the video to find out which path he follows…

Not bad, eh? Mind you, still has some way to go to trump the best awkward barbershop encounter of all time…
