Just over a week ago, London’s Park Lane played host to one of the showpiece events for the UK’s leading video production companies, as the 2015 EVCOM Screen Awards took place. Spectrecom Films was up for awards in two categories – but could we convert those nominations into wins?
A glittering celebration of the very best in British video production, the 2015 EVCOM Screen Awards were staged inside the swanky environs of Park Lane’s Grosvenor Hotel, with hosting duties being fulfilled by sharp-tongued film critic Mark Kermode.
The two films we were nominated for were our sports recruitment film for the University of East London starring UEL student and Team GB sprinter Adam Gemili and ‘Hot Cars Kill Dogs’, our campaign film for the Dogs Trust.
The Gemili film was nominated in the ‘Recruitment and Induction’ category and the Dogs Trust film had been shortlisted for ‘Health and Safety’.
To secure an EVCOM nomination, the submitted film needs to be of outstanding quality. But it also needs to demonstrate that it delivered on its original objectives.
On this count, both our films were well worth their nominations:
- Since the launch of the Adam Gemili film, UEL has experienced a 42% increase in applications to its sports scholarship programme
- The campaign message of the Dogs Trust film reached more than 60,000 YouTube users and was further spread by 100+ media outlets including several national newspapers
And as regular readers of this blog may recall, the Dogs Trust film recently won ‘Best Use of Video’ at the PRmoments Awards.
On the night, the Dogs Trust film was Highly Commended by the EVCOM judges.
The Adam Gemili film, meanwhile, went a step better, being called to the stage to pick up a Bronze Award in its category.
