Responsible Video Production

Social Responsibility

When we founded Spectrecom in 2004, corporate responsibility was central to everything we did right from the start; and we’ve been recognised for our work in this area by our trade body, the IVCA. ;

  • We've also won awards for our environmental policies, our reporting procedures, and our work in the community.

  • We support local charities – not just through funding, but in more practical ways too.

  • We run media training courses for young people, with tangible outcomes.

  • We produced an award-winning film, Georgina Goes Out, about a girl with cerebral palsy, screened several times on Channel 4.

  • We work closely with a local charity Heart n’ Soul, run by and for creative and artistic people with learning difficulties.

  • Last year, we worked with Terry Wogan’s TOG’s for Children in Need.

Internally, we respect our legal obligations to our employees and recruit ethically, on merit, without positive or negative discrimination.  Proud of our reputation as a friendly and happy team, we openly communicate every aspect of the company's activities and are all focussed towards the same goals.

Environmental Responsibility

As a leading communications agency, Spectrecom is able to take a central role in helping to educate and courage our stakeholders towards an environmentally sustainable future.
The video production industry is typically very wasteful with natural resources, but we do all that we can to minimise the damage we might do.

These policies and other procedures are core to our business model, and we have found that they have actually helped us to save money and increase our profitability.  By re-using materials for and from studio set-builds, using low energy studio lighting, buying 100% of our power from renewable sources and recycling our waste, we have saved thousands over the years.

Environmental Awards

Our commitment to "Corporate Social Responsibility" has been commended with several accolades, including being named a "National Green Champion" at the 2007 Green Apple Awards in the House of Commons and receiving a "Highly Commeded Plaque" at the IVCA Clarion Awards in 2008.
